Every week The Broke and the Bookish host a meme called Top Ten Tuesdays! This week’s topic is Top Ten Tuesday Rewind–meaning bloggers get to choose a specific topic from the past and use it. So I selected:
Top Ten Books I HAD to Buy…But are Still Sitting on my Bookshelf
1. The Innocent Party by Aimee Parkison
Aimee was one of my creative writing professors in my Master’s program. The Innocent Party is her newest collection of short stories, which was published in April. Sadly, though I bought it the day it was released, it is still sitting unopened on my bookshelf.
2. Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen

3. The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
I read Cat’s Eye for one of my classes, and have heard that The Handmaid’s Tale is Atwood’s best. I still haven’t read it.
4. 1984 by George Orwell
Animal Farm is one of my favorite books, so I ran out and got a copy of 1984…and it has collected dust.
5. This Dark Endeavor by Kenneth Oppel

6. A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
Saw previews for the show on HBO and went out and bought the first book. It still sits in my TBR pile…and the first season is on my to buy list.
7. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
I read a review of this book in Entertainment Weekly, and it sounded awesome–so I bought it. Still haven’t read it.
8. The Stranger by Albert Camus
One of my favorite quotes of all time comes from this novel…but I’ve never read it. It sits next to my well-worn copy of Wuthering Heights.

In Cold Blood and Breakfast at Tiffany’s
What are some of your books that you have (shamefully) purchased then neglected?
